Franco/American singer songwriter Dune Laila Fougerolles creates a raw & soulful ambiance with her smooth vocal grooves that hint of a bygone era. With her one-of-a-kind tones, rhythmic melodies and percussive guitar strumming, she brings forward a mixture of unorthodox folk, soul and acoustic blues with nostalgic tendencies. A bit of ZAZ, Alela Diane, Billie Holliday and Joy Crookes all under the same roof.  Dune sings and composes in French, Spanish and English.

Growing up in a French-speaking household with immigrant ‘Pied-noir’ parents, Dune spent her early childhood in the small medieval village of Sauve in southern France and later moved to the rural town of Port Orford, Oregon.  She traces the genesis of her creative life to her magical childhood home there, nestled among the wild and salty forests of the southern Oregon coast. Dune’s musical journey began when she was around 10 years old and learned to accompany herself on her father’s large classical guitar. Very quickly, she begun writing her own songs and performing live in her hometown.

Although the Oregon coast is the place she calls home, Dune is a child of many places. Her family hit the road many times during most of her youth and teens - From a voyage in a 1968 Mercedes Firetruck for 6 months in West Africa at 5 years old to camping for long months on the remote beaches of Baja California. Her connection to the remoteness of nature still plays a great role in her life and transpires in her creation process-both music and visual; Constantly channeling energetic material into songs. When Dune isn’t playing music, she is expressing herself through her other passions; painting, tattooing and mural work.

After moving to Portland, OR Dune found a comforting place in the city’s close-knit music community. Over the years Dune has been in and out of Oregon, and a big part of her Live playing experience comes from busking in city streets during her travels and impromptu gigs in restaurants and bars around the world. Her nomadic heart and multi-cultural upbringing  has led her to live a unique lifestyle, and to hold a continued curiousness for experiencing different cultures, which transpires in her diverse musical style. Although Dune continues to call Portland her creative Home-base, she remains a vagabond artist who roams with a free heart.

Recently launching herself into the world of streaming as an independent recording artist, this young singer just released her debut Album: Am I..

Moody and sensitive, yet multicultural and vibrant, This project is a “Coming of age” tale centered around personal growth, navigating the journeys of young love and coming to terms with an unknown future.
